Methods used to impose colonial Rule in Africa by Europeans - Use of the divide and rule policy
The Europeans employed divide and rule as the weapon do disunite and dwindle African opposition. The colonial governments manipulated and enlarged the former misunderstanding among the African tribes for their own benefit. In some instances, when two tribes were in dissension, the colonial government magnified the enmity so that their conflicts might mature for their own advantage.
